Our Ask the Activist online series is an exciting opportunity for schools to connect directly with passionate human rights representative, giving pupils the chance to ask real-world questions about human rights, social justice and activism.

ANDREW GILMOUR, FORMER UNITED NATIONS ASSISTANT SECRETARY GENERAL FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
Andrew Gilmour CMG was the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights until 2019, and also served as Director for Political, Peacekeeping, Humanitarian and Human Rights affairs in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, from 2012 to 2016.

FOUNDER, RISE UP CIC, AUTHOR, RAPPER
Ashleigh is a writer, performer and director at RiseUp. Ashleigh’s debut novel LOCKS was signed to Picador Books in 2021.
2021 also saw Ashleigh awarded Artist of the Year in the Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards. Later that year he co-curated the opening weekend at the Shakespeare North Playhouse in Knowsley, was the first person to perform Shakespeare in its traditional cockpit theatre, and became a special advisor there. how to create their own destinies.
MARK ELLIS,
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, INTERNATIONAL BAR ASSOCIATION
Mark Ellis is an international lawyer who has spent his career working to protect human rights and fairness in the justice system around the world. As Executive Director of the International Bar Association, he has helped strengthen the rule of law in many countries, especially those affected by war or political violence.
PAUL LINDLEY, ENTREPRENUER AND PHILANTHROPIST
After selling his business, Paul shifted much of his energy into philanthropy and activism focused on children’s wellbeing, education, rights, and public health.
Paul founded RFK Human Rights UK and he also helps steer Sesame Workshop (the team behind Sesame Street which creates educational media for kids around the world.
Paul co-founded The Key is E, helping young African social entrepreneurs use education and business to make positive change in their communities. He has also supported groups like One Young World and Bite The Ballot, helping young people get involved in leadership and democracy.
Paul has chaired London’s Child Obesity Taskforce, bringing together experts and officials to push for healthier environments and policies so children can grow up stronger and happier.
